I started a windows update for my windows 10 laptop at 10:45pm. It's now 11:52pm and it's stuck on a black screen with the little loading circle at the bottom. I can't check the hard drive activity because for some reason, the Fn-H hotkey to toggle the LED from battery status to HDD status does nothing. I hate leaving my computer overnight like this, but I'm gonna do it and I'll let you know what it's doing in the morning. I'll probably force it to shut down if it's still doing this in the morning.

I turned it on at like 230pm, it finished installing the updates after the nice little windows 10 "hi" screen, and everything works fine.
as a side note, and it's not shown in your screen shot, but from what can be seen, that fluffy surface it's on could cause the underside air vents some serious access issues.
I'm aware of this, but my laptop is so cheap that it doesn't suck air from the bottom. It just has one vent on the side that sucks and exhausts.
