Solved Grinding noise coming from GPU.

I haven't been able to use my desktop PC for weeks due to this grinding noise coming from the GPU fan I believe(I know for sure it's not the hard drive nor the fan so I've not been too worried.). I have opened it up inspected it etc. and don't really know what else to do I'm not too savvy when it comes to the internals of a PC but can get around fine. I'm wondering if there's any sort of fix to this without having to buy another graphics card, I would just buy a replacement fan but again I'm not too confident in putting one in.

Also the GPU is a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 192bit GDDR5
I had the same problem back in October of last year but the noise went away and hadn't shown up till about two weeks ago and I've just left the computer off since till I could get to it.

If anyone could help me figure out a solution without having to buy another whole graphics card that would be awesome, but if not I could try to find a replacement fan I just need some guidance not really sure where to start.

how old is the graphics card?
under warranty still?
it does sound like the fan or bearings, although, from what I could hear, a pinball machine also came to mind! :)

take out the card (with the PC off) and see if the noise is still there when started. (you'll have to plug your monitor into the mobo video ports)

I'd say about 2-3 years old, don't believe its under warranty still sadly, but I will try it out when I get back home and update thanks!

New GPU fans are pretty easy to install, readily available and cheap.

Sounds a bit like a fan blade is touching the heatsink or cabling????????

To prove if it's the GPU fan/s remove the card, disconnect the fan header/s on the card, refit the card and reboot. No noise equals bad fan/s.

Do not however run the pc with the fans disconnected for any longer than necessary.

UPDATE: I took the GPU apart and there is black marks on top of the metal under the fan of the GPU. How should I fix this? It would explain why the fan keeps making a grinding metal sound.

Don't know if I should respond but.
It would appear from your picture that either a fan blade is contacting the heatsink, or something has been caught between a fan blade and heatsink. If there is no evidence of any foreign object being caught sit the fan on the heatsink and turn it by hand and see if it has a damaged or warped blade. It should be obvious.

It would appear that yours is not an uncommon issue sethhb.

Please note that you need to reuse the exiting screws from the Zotac fan as none are supplied with the replacement.
