Hello,
I got an Rtx 3070(paired with a ryzen 5 2600) for a few weeks now and im experiencing gpu usage fluctuations in almost every games.(Stray, spiderman, rdr2, Sea of thieves...and many more).. it happens every time i look at a certain building or environment that have things to render or process.. for example in Rdr2 all is fine when im running in the wilds but as soon as i get near a town its starts fluctuating(gpu usage) then followed by fps drops..Another thing is im seeing sheeps dissapearing and appearing. Same issue in spiderman, i have to get close to buildings for the texture to process or its just a bland and dull building from a small distance. In sea of thieves all is good in the open water but when i reach an outpost or island, same issue with lots of fps drops. Also i know my ryzen 5 2600 is not as strong for the 3070 but im playing on 2k or 4k to minimize bottleneck and i can keep usage at 99%.. however i still get these usage drops along with fps drops. i also tried xmp on my ram to 3000mhz and it didnt solve the issue.. im playing on ssd nvme. Also tried the same game on Hdd.. same issue. Temps and airflow are fine in my rig: Gpu at 65 - 70, cpu at 50 something i believe... i also tried overcloacking my cpu to 4,1 ghz and the issue still persists. Already uninstalled drivers using Ddu and reinstalling..

Also everything seems to be running fine on benchmarking, like in Uniheaven im having constant 100% usage with 100+ fps in extreme.
My usage and fps is really stable when theres not much going on in the game for example if im in an open area.. it feels really smooth then.

Full PC Specs: Rtx 3070 aorus master
amd ryzen 5 2600(cooler master as air cooling - hyper 212)
aorus gigabyte b450 m
a silverstone psu 750w 80+ Gold
16 gb ram at 2600mhz speed
1tb nvme m.2 + 2 Tb HDD

Hello

From the spec's on the mobo it should support ram speeds of..
Support for DDR4 3600(O.C.) / 3466(O.C.) / 3200(O.C.) / 2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules

So a typical ram oc for good gaming is 3200..

thank you for your reply,
yes ive been trying to set it to 3200 but it crashes the games.. Maybe cause of a voltage thing..will try tweak those.. thank you will try that

Let's get some more information:

Please download and run speccy.

Once you have ran speccy, follow the instructions to upload a snapshot found here.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Do you have the model of silverstone PSU you purchased?

As far as overclocking the ram, the default speed is going to be your most stable, and good for testing. You could try enabling XMP and then just disabling it if it seems to cause issues.

its a silverstone ST75F-GS..
and yes it was unstable with xmp so i reset it to default values. It Was also no help to my issues.. just unstable and crashes.

For the Speccy information im gonna run it in a few hours.. not at home currently..thank you

1. Try running the following programs, also try to keep at least 20-25% of your disks as free space.

Run Disk Cleanup (check all the boxes) this will delete things such as your recycling bin, so make sure you don't have any files you want to keep.

Run Defragment and Optimize Drives, run this on your drives.

2. Disable any overclocking or changes to power/performance settings

Turn off XMP/any overclocking you may have done (if any)

Settings > System > Power and sleep > Additional power settings
Make sure your power plan is set to balanced, anything else could tamper with the wrong settings and cause issues.

3. Check for Operating System Corruption

Right click on the Windows logo in the bottom left and select Windows Powershell (Admin)
Run these three commands separately:

sfc /scannow

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

These will take a while to run, do not close out of Powershell while they are running, if one fails then move onto the next and then loop back around.

Note: It doesn't hurt to make a system backup before you make all these changes, save any important files of folders. While these changes shouldn't cause any issues, better to be safe than sorry.

4. Unplug unnecessary devices.

If you have a gamepad, extra monitor, external hard drive/flash drive, or anything that is not essential to using the computer plugged in, unplug it. You should be left with your monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Once you have completed all of these tasks, restart it (using the restart option in the power menu) and re-test.

yes i did those tweaks.. slight improvement(smoother).. also at 2k im having more CPU usage than GPU.. only at 4k that it gets more GPU usage.. but thats not normal right? was supposed to be at least 80% gpu... but right now Rdr2 is 60-70 Gpu, 70-80 CPU. And same for Spiderman. More cpu Usage..Playing in ultra settings btw at 60 - 70 fps still dropping when my gpu usage drops(cpu rises sometimes then)

LOD issue still persists

Btw all seem to be running fine on benchmark.. GPU usage only drops when i reach max Fps(144).. Unengine Heaven was running at constant 99-100% GPU usage and 8 - 13% Cpu usage. Scored 2593 on Extreme settings at 1440p.. One last thing, at the end when it gives the numbers .. In GPU model it says: Nvidia Geforce Rtx 3070 31.0.15.1694(4095MB)..... wasnt that supposed to be 7900mb - 8000mb ?

Higher CPU usage is quite normal on 3d games, there is so much thinking that has to be done behind every object, NPC, vehicle, etc.

The games you are playing are on your SSD correct?

If not, load up your game of preference on your SSD and test it again.

We can also try DDU if you want to ensure the proper drivers for the GPU.

Run DDU and install a fresh set of drivers from here.

An important note: You MUST download the driver executable and disconnect your computer from the internet before running DDU, otherwise Windows will automatically download drivers (which you don't want).

already tried DDU but can do it again..Will make sure PC running offline.. already fresh installed windows as well..
Yes on SSD im gaming.. I also tried put some in HDD just to test but same issue on HDD..

When you fresh installed Windows did you install your Motherboard Chipset drivers first and then install all other drivers before connecting to the internet?

i think i fresh installled then installed Nvidia drivers as soon as it booted cause i wanted to test games after the wipe..
Also i dont think i was offline.. i can do it again but can i keep my files this time?

You could try it.

Worst case scenario you go back and do a complete re-install from scratch.

It should be noted, I'm not positive if this will keep your current drivers or delete them, it's possible it will keep all of your drivers and leave you in the same boat.

That being said, let's get a couple more opinions in here before we take such a drastic step.

yeah - not my cup of tea really.
Ryzen CPU's, gaming, FPS drops, high-end GPU's and all that.
then trying to eek out performance gains with a GPU vs CPU balance act.

I've always been a believer of simply getting better components, in this case, matching a new, better CPU to a latest gen GPU so your system specs exceed the requirements of the games.

I'll let others wade in that have more skin in the game than I. :)

i did do a clean install once again using ddu and offline.. also i tried older drivers as well.. did not work..

i dont mind getting a better and high end CPU if its gonna fix my issue.. but i need to make sure it is gonna work first.. :/

Also the Gpu usage drops follwed by Fps drops occurs at specific moments or when looking at a specific way.. for example if i look at the sky it jumps to full usage and stays constant.. or if im in a desert like place.. but when there are buildings etc.. then it starts getting the usage issue.. do you think that's CPU or GPU related? Think its CPU cause its the Cpu's job to provide data of details.. in that case, im getting poor LOD. Or it can be my Gpu not processing data fast enough..
but from what i saw in benchmark all seem smooth..only tested unengine.. any other benchmark that i can try plz?
