GPU power

Don't think this is the right section for it, but I couldn't find it, but I want to know something about monitors and gpus. I have a 1440p 27"monitor, and it's taking a hit on performance. My specs are
11th gen I9
32gb ram
AMD 6950XT 16GB
1tb SSD

I think average temperature range for gaming on the GPU is between 60 to 70c, but it gets past 80 on games that are absolutely not resource heavy. I had a 1080p monitor before the one I have now, and I never had an issue with performance. Now I get stutters and a super hot GPU. I know 1440p uses more power from the GPU, but is it really enough to make your computer overheat? My room isn't hot and it doesn't have any dust.
