Solved Gaming PC crashes when taxed in any Video Game

I'm not dealing with Cyberpower, the warranty with Cyberpower is done and also they wanted me to send in the entire PC at my cost to California for repair. I'm just going to deal with the Video Card as it has a 3year warranty. If it's the PSU and they can tell me that's why my Video Card failed then so be it but I don't have any other option right now do I? As for the CPU Cooler it's not exactly easy to see that they weren't spinning as they are on the inside front of the case so I don't know when they stopped working. The CPU itself has never gotten that hot really. The fans are only connected to a controller that is hooked up to a USB header on the Motherboard so I'm not sure how that all works for powering them because I can change their colors all day but not get them to spin.

I'm sorry I wasn't accurate in describing my problem but If i was able to be accurate than I probably wouldn't have asked for help in the first place. The thing is that sometimes the screen goes out and the PC restarts and some times it wouldn't so software/hardware I don't know.

The Screen started going out in last 1 1/2 days just watching shows or videos so I've now just pulled out the video card and am running off the Motherboard Video until I can see what I can do about the video card.

I'm not aware of anything else, depending on who makes the card you might get lucky or be out-of luck. If it's not working I'm not sure what else you can do.

The fans are connected to a USB header? They should be connected to a PWM fan header and the power supply afaik, do you have a picture of where they are connected and the hub?

I find it strange that the water cooler has a push fan and a pull fan, maybe phill knows more about why they would do this?

We're all working towards the same thing here, this is a great chance to learn how to better troubleshoot and describe problems. :)
 
Yeah honestly i'm just trying to learn here. Yes the fans are only connected via 8pin connecters to the Controller, while the waterblock has that same connection but also one to a fan header on the MB. I've attached some pics sorry if the quality isn't good. Also, here is a link to the actual CPU AIO cooler that I have:

Pic 1 the USB header on the left is where the Controller is connected to, it's bundled with a Micro USB connector also which is what the other side of the cable is only and what is plugged into the controller. The controller has 5 ports (using 3) and a power port which had an adaptor connecting to a 4pin molex power cable.

Pic 2 just shows the waterblock connected to the MB (I know that's working cause if i touch it or the cables going in and out I can feel it working.

A few things I would change.

The fans on your AIO should be plugged into CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT on your motherboard, all case fans can be plugged into CHA_FAN, I'd abandon the fan hub, no amount of RGB is worth overheating the system, and you have more than enough fan headers.

Your power supply appears to be upside down depending on what case you have, was the original in that position? Is there a beauty cover that goes over the PSU and cabling?


Your front panel connectors (the ones in the bottom right of the first picture) look like they're barely connected, make sure they are seated and in the correct spots.

Finally, in the first picture I see a tied up USB cable of some sorts, why is the hanging out in the case?

I highly recommend reading through your owner's manual as you do this, it will tell you all of this and far more when it comes to system cabling.

Thank you for all of your help. I believe I have resolved the issues. I wasn't feeling using the old 1000W PSU as a final solution so I purchased an ASUS ROG Strix 1000W PSU and just went to task installing it tonight. I recabled everything and upon testing everything was working. The previously unworking fans were working and controllable through the software and then I decided ok if thats working lets try the video card so I did a stress test at my mini testbench basically and it had zero issues. So now I've hooked everything back up and have it back at my desk with my 4k Monitor and ran multiple tests and it's running just fine and all fans are working etc. The initial problem of a PSU not strong enough seems to have been correct and then my old PSU must not be really putting out 1000W anymore either. Who knows what the deal with the fans were but they are all good to go now. In the end I spent $170 on the quality PSU but it's better than spending $25-60 shipping my video card off for them to tell me nothing is wrong with it and then spending the $170 later.
 
Glad you got the crashing sorted out!

I recommend that you get those other bits sorted out as detailed above (your CPU cooling especially) to cap off your success. :)

It's sorted. The fans are working now on the radiator so all fans are working. I have to go with the controller or i would have to rewire the fans as they are in a bigger connector
 
My concern is that the CPU fans and AIO pump are not receiving signals from the intended connectors, while they may be spinning who knows what they're hearing and deciding to do.

I'm not sure what you mean about wiring in a bigger connector, but you can safely plug 3-pin fans into 4 pin headers as long as you line the notch up.


If you decide not to do it, that is ultimately your choice, just trying to prevent any future problems if possible, a fried CPU is never a fun thing.
