Freezing games, slow computer

When I freshly boot up my PC and play games they run fine and smoothly, but after a while (say about 1 - 2 hours), the game becomes slow and unplayable, with frames up to 60 - 80 fps. Also the game would randomly freeze for 1 -2 seconds with 20 - 30 second intervals and becoming more consistent as I play longer. I also notice if I'm watching a youtube video on my second monitor as I'm playing the video would freeze and end up buffering and unwatchable. I would eventually have to restart my PC and all would fix again and my frames would be good again, has anyone had a similar problem before?
