D Drive not allowing me to make changes

]Hey everybody I'm having issues with my laptop and hoping somebody can help. I store all my media files on my D drive, all in seperate folders. Not sure when it happened but suddenly i'm unable to make any changes to anything. I've checked the drive properties and all the permissions look fine, but any changes (moving folders, new downloads) no longer exist when closing the folder and reopening. I really don't feel like reformatting my computer but i'm sort of at a loss

Is there any error message?
It sounds like the files are in read-only which if the case could mean the drive is about to fail. I would recommend either imaging that drive using third party disk imaging tools or copying the files to another drive. Of the two I would image the drive.
If you move one of the files to another drive can you then change the file? If yes then that confirms the drive is faulty.
