Computer stuck at Loading Screen after restarting & random disconnect of peripherals

Status
Not open for further replies.
So I have this issue whereby, after using the computer for some time and if I were to restart my PC, on the booting screen, it will freeze and get stuck at that page. I would then force shot down by holding the power button and then when I try to turn it back on, it will get stuck again on the booting page. Upon multiple retries, the PC will then prompt to self repair and the option given is a shut down. So after pressing the shut down button from the self repair page, it will get stuck again. To solve this issue I have to shut down the PC and wait for about an hour before I can boot it back up normally.

Another issue I have is random disconnecting and reconnecting of my peripherals. At random times, my peripherals will just disconnect and reconnect not sure why. All of my peripherals and connected to a 7 port USB hub. I've tried to update the drivers, uninstall the drivers and even got another USB Hub but the same issue still occurs.

Ive tried to memtest and the memory wasn't the issue. Ive also factory reset my PC and that didn't solve the issue too. What is causing this?

if the only USB devices that are disconnecting are the ones attached to the USB hub, then that is the problem.
make sure you only use powered USB hubs, or don't connect too many devices to one.
share the load and connect some to the PC.

as to the first issue, let's get your complete PC specs.
get Speccy from here; https://www.piriform.com/speccy/builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste (Ctrl+V) that link into a post.
One component Speccy doesn’t cover is the Power Supply Unit, so please also include the make/model of the PSU.

when you say you did a factory reset, what and how did that happen?
from a bootable USB stick with the latest OS build on it, or from the original OEM DVD the PC may have come with, or by using the startup F-key to access the recovery partition on the hard drive?
was it a repair or clean install?

My power supply is the corsair sf750

For the factory reset bit, on Windows 11, I did a Reset this PC and removed everything and did a cloud download afterwards.

Oh, so I should get a USB powered hub. Cause I have a mini ITX motherboard and for organization, I plug all my USB ports into a singular hub.
As a replacement, I already bought this USB Hub and have it but I didn't plug in any power for it yet. Is that USB hub okay? Or do you have another recommendation?

point number 3 says it all. :)
Features:

1. Seven USB 3.0 port expansion, enables users to connect more computer peripherals, such as mouse, keyboard, hard drive and so on.
2. 5Gbps fast transmission, brings you an efficient working experience.
3. H7U reserves a micro usb power port, you could connect an external power adapter so that the large capacity mobile devices are transmitted and connected more stably.
4. Blue indicator shows the working status.

you aren't running this as a virtual machine are you?
have you opened the PC and checked the dust buildup?
have you monitored the temps when it has issues to see if there are normal?

No, Im not running this as a virtual machine,
Yes, I have already cleaned the PC
Temps are okay.

Not sure if its a SSD issue, or a Corrupted windows issue or even a motherboard issue. Really confused here.

when you did the Reset this PC, then the cloud download afterwards, what came down from the cloud, just your personal files, or drivers, or a system image?

what was the time frame between the PC Reset and the cloud download - did you run the PC for a while to see if the problem was there after the reset.

what is the make/model of your PC?
the Speccy report shows your PC type as virtual, so that's strange.
it also has no SMART data on your two 2TB SSD's, also strange.
are those to drives internal or external?

When I did the reset it was clean reinstall, before that there was an option of clearing files which I did. So both my drives were wiped clean and it installed windows 11 via cloud.

So the thing is during the factory reset, it actually got stuck. I had to force shut down and turn back on to continue the windows 11 clean install.

My model of PC? It's a custom built PC

My PC is virtual cause I have to install ubuntu which uses Linux for programming for my school.

Not sure about the my SSD being smart.

They're both internal SSDs connected via M .2

Also side note for my other issue, the USB hub even after being powered, still randomly disconnects.

so you have Win11 on your physical PC and are running Ubuntu from a USB stick or as a virtual machine via same software like Oracle VirtualBox or Windows HyperV?

where did the power pack for the USB hub come from, supplied with the hub or one you had lying around?
does it match the rated input volts and amps?
and what are the 7 devices that are connected to the hub?

I have Win 11 and use WSL 2 to use ubuntu.

This restarting issue came even before i installed Ubuntu.

The external USB power is coming form a power outlet. Yes, its rated for 5V.

The 7 devices are,
USB Audio DAC
USB Microphone
USB Speaker
Webcam
Mouse
Keyboard
Open slot

Whenever I hear the windows 11 beep it will disconnect and reconnect instantly only my mouse and keyboard seem to be affected as it requires input but my other devices didn't seem to get frozen for that short second. Might be a bad mouse/keyboard don't have a spare to test out atm.

sorry to harp on, but confusion reigns in my head at least.
where is your problem, the physical Win11 PC or the virtual Linux PC?

as to the USB hub issue, can you connect a few devices to the PC and see it that helps, or even just leave off a few (like webcam, microphone and speakers) and see if the problem goes away.
if it does, re-introduce one device at a time till the issue reoccurs then you'll have your culprit.
and the power pack that is used on the hub, is that just a generic 5v one you had lying around, or one that came with the hub?

The problem is with my windows 11 PC nothing to do with my linux.
Is there any way to diagnose this issue?

For the USB problem is there a software I can install to check whenever an input were to be disconnected? So I can track to see the specific device
So the USB Hub has a micro USB input. I used a micro usb to plug into the usb hub for power. The cable is then powered through this power adapter socket

no USB hub software I know pre-detects device issues.
best way is to have one device connected, and keep adding one at a time until the issue occurs.

when you say your PC issue only happens when the rig is on for some time, and you have to wait for about an hour before it works, that suggests a heat related problem.

when you cleaned the PC, what did that entail?
removing RAM and GTX card, wiping their circuit boards, contacts and mobo slots?
did you change the thermal paste on the CPU?
what about generally blowing out the durst with an air-compressor or can of compressed air?
was their any dust buildup on the fans and air intakes and exhausts?
also blow out the PSU?

When I cleaned the PC, I pretty much used an air blower to blow out all of the dust. I did change the thermal paste. I removed and reinstalled the RAM and GPU, however, I didn't wipe the circuit boards, contacts and mobo slots. Is it safe to do that? And also what do I need to use to clean them?

Side note regarding what you said about heat, I recently tracked my CPU temps when gaming, I noticed it peaked around 96 degrees. This might be the issue cause when I try to restart the PC, its normally after a gaming session. Though, I am getting an AIO so that should hopefully solve the issue.

I use a soft bristled brush which seems to do the job nicely, both on the contacts themselves, the mobo slots and the circuit board.

96C is on the high side of average, but in itself, I wouldn't have thought enough to cause concern. but that heat has to disapate somewhere, so maybe it's heating up the insides generally.

Hmmm so there isnt a conclusion and it might be the internals overheating?
Ill try to clean the boards with a soft bristled brush, do you use any alcohol to clean it or just clean brush it?
