My aunt was scammed a couple of weeks ago where she replied to an email asking her to verify her email log in details.

Straight away people in her address book started receiving emails, supposedly from her, asking them to buy gift cards. She called me and I told her to change her password, which she did.

Since then, however she hasn’t been able to receive any emails at all. She can send them fine but not receive.

The email address is an old Hotmail account but she has lots of contacts and uses it for everything, so doesn’t want to lose it if possible.

We’ve tried logging in on different computers and tablets with good internet connections and plenty of storage but still nothing since February 2nd.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Log in to the account online & see if there are any rules set up to forward sent emails to a different address, also check for any unknown email addresses added as recovery options.

Sorry for the delay in feedback. I didn't know her password, and she's been out of touch for a few days.
Thanks for your reply, there was in fact a rule set up to move the emails to another folder and to forward them to an address I don't recognise. I've deleted the rule.
Where would I find recovery options please? I can't seem to find it in settings.

Recovery options would be under the general Google account>Security options usually.
I’d also recommend turning on 2 factor authentication & using an app for the log in codes.
