Solved Can't install AMD Driver for AMD Ryzen 5 4600 H

Hey everyone,

I am having some difficulty trying to install the AMD Adrenalin driver. I go to the site, I fill in my graphics card, I download the software, the setup page is displayed, the download is done, the computer restarts, and once restarted, nothing installed, no application, no AMD Radeon Software, nothing.

Also, when I go to my Device Manager and look in Graphics Cards, it says “Microsoft Base Video Card”, which previously had the name of my graphics card. I haven't changed anything manually, and I don't understand this change.

Finally, when I try to launch games that worked before, I now get a message “Failed to initialize DirectX 12. Graphic drivers may require an update, or graphics adapter may not be supported”. I obviously tried to manually download DirectX12, which is up-to-date, so I think the problem comes from the driver that I can't install.

I don't know if you have already encountered this type of issue, do not hesitate to let me know your ideas.

Thank you for reading and I wish you a good day.

Sorry but you have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better help you.

I apologize. My computer is an Honor MagicBook Pro laptop powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, the GPU is an AMD Raedon™ Graphics with 16GB Dual-channel DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. It's running under Windows 11. All components are original, and I've reset the computer to zero.

No worries but the explanation below will explain why we need the information;

I've reset the computer to zero.

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers, then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell and HP etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their dedicated GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.

The drivers for your computer must be obtained from here

The Radeon Software program appears, it works, I no longer have the error when I launch the games and my graphics card reappears in the Device Manager.

Thank you very much for your help! Everything is working fine now, you made my day

You are welcome and thank you for letting us know that all is now well with your computer (y)

Suggest that you download and save your system drivers to a USB thumbdrive for any future need such as this.
