I was able to delete that driver and I can plug in my dongle without my PC crashing, though no networks show up in the available networks tab in the taskbar. I installed DDU as well, how would I go about fixing that driver? Clean and restart button at the top?

Did the new USB Wireless stick come with a drivers disk? Can you reinstall it.

Yes, I will install that driver. What confuses me about this is I've never installed drivers that come with dongles before and they always seemed to work fine.

Right click run as admin.
Under network adapters
Right click the wireless adapter.
Properties:
Advanced:
Switch between modes.
Check connection.

Also check the preffered band settings- =Switch and check if options are available

I can't right-click on the wireless adaptor device cause it needs to be plugged in to see it in device manager and my PC crashes when I plug in the adaptor.

PC still crashes in another user's account, as well.

It is for certain the Driver causing the issues, once you deleted it then the system was stable.
Let's see if we can get windows to install a generic driver for it.
Reboot into safe mode with the usb connected.
Open device manager and right click and uninstall the driver.
Reboot to normal mode with it still attached to the system.
If we are lucky windows will install a generic driver that works correctly.

I think you might just need to get a different brand of wireless adapter if this does not work, maybe you can take it back and tell them it does not work.

Create a restore point. While the system is stable.

Save to Desktop
Right Click Run as Admin.
Create Restore point.
Then click run.

I have a couple other suggestions if there is another bluescreen, but we will save that only if needed. I will leave this thread open for a while to enure all is well, just please come back in a couple days and update for us. 👍

I had another crash while I was away from my desk, but I confirmed it is still the dongle. Crashes when it is plugged in and detects networks.

You mention that you had an older Wifi thumb drive, same issue, the the next one and this one that you just purchased. They are all realtek...?

If all Realtek then it seems your pc is just having non of it.

What may need to happen is delete the driver as before.
Attach the device.
Then uninstall again in device manager in safe mode as you just did.
I suspect that driver is still in the system 32 drivers folder.
This way a generic driver will be the only option.

Also, if you can get it back going by following the steps above.
Download the Windows Automatic Updates Manager
Right click run as admin.
click advanced
Install updates for MS products other than windows.
Search for driver updates.
Normal automatically search for updates but ask before download and install.
Click update windows now, see if there is a match for the wireless driver.
