Hello, my pc has been working just fine for the last 5 years

I’m experiencing a black screen whenever I turn my pc on

(activities leading to black screen)

Ive wanted to gain some control over my cpu fan as Ive noticed it’s been getting very close to the 61 degree recommended limit

I downloaded easy tune to help which I found useless

I downloaded msi afterburner which also proved useless

I came across msi live update and thought it might come in handy so downloaded that and completed 1 update, I think it was a driver update but can’t remember what for

(Things I’ve tried)

I’ve tried 3 different hdmi cables.
A different gpu.
Bios reset, several times.
Removed 1 stick of ram, swapped them around, removed both sticks of ram.
I randomly decided to remove the cpu, cleaned and re pasted.
I’ve tried to boot in safe mode for hours going through f1/f2/f3 etc trying to find the safe mode boot key.
I’ve done the same with a windows boot usb
I’ve tried to reset the gpu driver (I think) by pressing windows key/ctrl/shift/b.

I’ve attempted all of these things complete blind as obviously I have a black screen

I upgraded the ram over Christmas (PV316G160C9K)

Might also be worth noting that just before the black screen problem I was getting a black screen with 2 numbers in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. A few resets after was when it was purely black screen

Any help on the matter would be really appreciated
Thanks

Screen shows nothing at all

Corsair RM650x

Haven’t tried different PSU

MSI 970 gaming doesn’t have onboard graphics

Would also note the pc boots up, all fans are spinning etc

With nothing showing on the screen how do you know just because the fans are spinning does not mean that it is getting any further.

How many monitors connected?

Have you tried the other GPU post to see if anything changes.

Reseated the power connection to the fans, motherboard, GPU, ETC.

A computer has not booted unless you are in a fully functional Windows operating system.

I’ve tried to boot in safe mode for hours going through f1/f2/f3 etc trying to find the safe mode boot key.

You cannot boot into Safe Mode on any version since Windows 8 using an F or any other key, Windows 7 being the last that you could do so.

The fact that you are getting a black screen suggests that something is dead, you would at least be able to get into the BIOS if it were software related.

Have you tried another screen or tried the present screen on another computer, a notebook that has the appropriate video port will do.

Have you ever fitted a BIOS error speaker to the MB.

I never knew about the f keys

I have tried a different screen but haven’t tried a different computer on this screen

No I’ve never fitted a bios error speaker

Windows now has what is called the Recovery Environment (RE) you arrive at a blue screen after three or four failed boot attempts, you do not have this option I`m afraid.

What type of screen did you try, was it a generic PC display or a TV.

See attachment and why you should always have such a speaker.
