BIOS upgrade not working

Hey all.

I am currently running an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max mobo and am trying to upgrade my BIOS to install a new CPU (Ryzen 5 5500) and new components.

One thing to note: My current BIOS version is E7CO2AMS and the latest BIOS version available at us.msi.com is 7CO2v3H.

I have downloaded the correct update file onto a clean and correctly formatted USB, making sure to follow all the correct steps. However, the upgrade is not working. When I attempt the BIOS upgrade via M-FLASH, the new BIOS version is not visible to select. Even though it is on the USB. And when I attempt a Flash BIOS manually, the USB stick flashes momentarily, and then ... nothing. The only activity is the red CPU light constantly on.

Would appreciate any help or advice and am happy to answer questions.

Thank you.

I would go re-download the BIOS file and reformat the USB.

I don't see an specified file system but I would just run a quick format to Fat32 if it's a flash drive like it should be.

These instructions should be followed if you weren't already. :)
