Hi. Looking to update my BIOS (UEFI). I never updated it at all since I got it new. So I assume I don't need to find out my current BIOS version right? I can't seem to find it though. My motherboard manufacturer site shows 14 updates. There's definitely 1 I can use to make my system more stable. They each look different.

If you are not having issues suggest you don't fix what's not broken.
But if you really want to update can you give us the name and model of the PC, or if it's custom made the model and revision of the motherboard?

Oh, I want to update BIOS because I read that an updated BIOS can help prevent hacks. There are people in-house that I believe are hacking my browser & possibly the wireless internet radio upstairs. I am connected to the router via ethernet cable. My PC is custom. Windows 7 64-bit. Motherboard is Asus Z87-A. I do not know the revision. I cannot find the original box. I have an old pic of the serial, part #, UPC, EAN & check # if that helps?

if you believe your PC and/or wireless is being hacked, updating your BIOS (while not a bad idea in general if you have hardware issues) will not help you on the hack front.
change your routers login password and while in its config menu, change your wireless access password. even consider using MAC filtering to really tighten who can surf your wireless network.
as to your browser, you may want to put a password on your PC, change your passwords for Facebook etc and lock your PC when you leave it. pressing the Windows key + L does this quickly.

To add to the information already provided remember that if you select the incorrect BIOS it could brick you system.
Is this a system that you put together or one that was manufactured (Dell, HP, Gateway) since they will have their own BIOS on their sites.
As Bruce has stated a BIOS does not prevent you from being hacked. What will also help is security software, firewall, ETC.

Do you have a link to where you read this, would be real keen to see the foundations for such a claim.
As already advised, updating the BIOS should only be done out of necessity such as to fix a known issue or to allow for a processor upgrade, best left alone otherwise as a bad flash will hose your MB.

And as others have stated, updating your BIOS will NOT cure your reported issues.
I can't find the exact link right now but there's a handful of links by Googling "BIOS hackers".
Hmm, maybe I will leave my BIOS alone. I'm probably overthinking the hack thing, although I figured my system could be stabler. I recently reformatted my PC & had 2 BSOD's. If you read anything in those links that I SHOULD update my BIOS, please lemme know. Thank you
