Hi!

I upgraded Windows 10 to 1709.
I found new functions of Windows Defender and it looks perfectly - it found few viruses in my files and I have simple Q with maybe not easy answer:

Is Windows Defender and Windows Firewall enough in Windows 10.1709 for protection or it needs also any AV software too?
If it needs any AV software Q is other: can anybody recommend me any portable antivirus with realtime protection?
Pleae don't recommend me ClamWinPortable - this is not realtime protection.

Thank you for help.

your question is way too subjective. you'll just get multiple responses with multiple recommendations.
let Goggle be your friend and check this site out (one of many); https://www.av-comparatives.org
in short it shows that Defender is at least as good as the best out there. it was that and it's free, inbuilt, availability that swayed me to convert when Norton came up for renewal a few months back.

As seen in the provided link above, Windows Defender is actually a pretty darn good AV. If you are happy with it, I see no reason to use anything else as far as real time protection is concerned.(more below)

Another AntiVirus is not needed unless you want to use something else. I do not suggest using any 2 programs with real time protection, as that can cause more harm then good. (Conflicts and Crashing)

If you would like a single scanner just in case, Malwarebytes free edition would be a great solution.

The next step in staying protected is to learn safe browsing habits in combination with using a few nifty browser plugins. Adblock and Web of Trust make a great combo .

Adblock has the power to block most website ads with a bit of configuration.

Web Of Trust is an online reputation and Internet safety service. Basically whenever you go to a website, you will see a crowdsourced safety rating on the website.
