Solved 5800x3d Issue

Hi, I recently upgraded (yesterday) from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5800x3d. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, thermal paste is brand new, CPU cooler mounted fine.

The issue is that my whole system completely freezes and I have to hold the power button to restart it. XMP is disabled, I also turned off Global C-State Control which hasn't helped.

System specs:

Ryzen 7 5800x3d
Radeon RX 5700
MSI B450 Carbon Pro
Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB
Evga 600 80+ PSU

Could it be the power supply? I've looked it up and 600W should be ok to power it but I may be wrong. Could it be a faulty CPU? I'm not sure what other methods I can do to fully find out what is causing this freezing.

While you were inside the machine, perhaps you may have knocked something loose. Try and reseat the hardware all of it.

Does the computer work with the old Video card in?
Can you run the computer long enough to get a speccy link with the new card in?
Did you run DDU in safe mode to remove the old video card drivers? Prior to installing the new card?

Speccy Scan.

  • Please go here and download Speccy.
  • Install and run the program.
  • Upon Completion:
  • Hit File
  • Publish Snap Shot
  • A link will appear, post that link.

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop.

Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator.
When the program opens select the following boxes:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

That PSU should not be used anywhere near that GPU. EVGA make good PSUs but they must be used for their intended purpose and meet the hardware requirements, two variant of your GPU here and here the first requires a 650W PSU and the second 700W, not just any PSU will do either, it needs to be a minimum of Gold efficiency rated and from a proven brand such as EVGA, Corsair or Seasonic.

Your PSU is rated as – Tier F • Replace immediately
