Solved 32" Curved Monitor 1ms 60Hz

Hello
I am building my own PC using the following components:
1. Thermaltake Core P8: Box
2. ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme: Motherboard
3. be quiet STRAIGHT POWER 11 Power Supply 850W
4- Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB PCIe (up to 7.000 MB/s)
5. Nzxt Ktaken X63 water cooler for CPU
6. Intel Core i7-11700k: CPU
7. CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32 GB: Memory
8. MSI TTX3080 Graphics Card

The system has 2 main purposes:
1. Programming Controller and Electronics for my naval sailboat model
2. Flying the MSFS 2020

As you can see, the programming and electronics do not require a lot of performance but I have 4 monitors connected to it. The 32" curved monitor 60Hz will be placed between my 2 28" 60Hz monitors, the 2 24" inch monitors will be placed towards the middle above the 28" monitors.

The challenge is the system performance for flying with the MSFS 2020. The 32" monitor curved 60Hz 1ms will be the main display for me flying with the MSFS 2020. I will purchase later a head and eye tracking system will benefit from this display as it modifies the displayed image on the monitor to show what I would see when looking in the direction my eyes and my head move in the cockpit. This is not a VR system, it just uses the main screen and makes it possible to influence what is displayed on the monitor.

Now my question:
I have been tracking the fps of the flight simulator with the resolution of 380x2160 flying low so the amount of work the RTX3080 with all settings to "Ultra" is forcing CPU and graphics card to its maximum. I use "Fraps" utility to display the fps rate.and it does not go above 38 fps. As a result I did reduce my requirements to a monitor to just 60Hz. A 144Hz would make no sense. My monitor has 1ms latency. Is my analysis correct not to look for a 32" curved monitor with 144Hz becuase it would have no benefit for me compared with 144Hz as I have seen for gaming with a price tag around 950 USD.

Would you have a recommendation what monitor would available to purchase? I am based in Germany and here it is very difficult to find a monitor that does not offer 144Hz and 1ms. 60Hz and 1Ms I have not yet found one.

Best regards
Hellmut

No. I at least tried to explain in what context my search for a 32" curved monitor is. As the tool Fraps proved that the MSFS 2020 never got to FPS of above 60 the need is for a 60Hz monitor as the MSFS 2020 would never benefit from a rate of 144 Hz of a monitor. Having shared my PC comfiguration and the purpose of it is MSFS 2020 as the most demanding game I play I am looking for a 3840x2160 Hz 32" curved monitor 1ms and 60Hz. Is there a monitor that I should look for and are there other parameters of relevance of which I am not aware?

From what I've read, the framerate is capped at 60 FPS for MSFS 2020.

This is something you could go around and try to circumvent, but that could cause the game to stop functioning properly.

If you want a curved monitor, look at reputable brands that have a good warranty, my go to is ASUS.

When looking for a premium/quality monitor, you will more often than not find that when you increase size, resolution, or response times, this will come with an increase in refresh rate. However, you can simply set the monitor to run at 60Hz and forget about it if you so choose.

The above linked monitor would be my first look (I like buying with a warranty), but it's ultimately up to you.

One with a 1ms response time will be double the price for little difference, if you want that check out the GIGABYTE M32UC. Please look at the amazon search I linked as that will show you all of your options and allow you to see everything from all of the manufacturers producing what you want and how that effects the cost.

That is correct. But the 1ms reaction time is very important for the quality when used to fly with the MSFS2020. My graphics carf an RTX3080 from MSI offers a huge graphic performance that will require to play a bit with the settings in the MSFS2020 to achieve 60fps.

So I am keepiung my eyes open to find when a monitor with the parameters I want becomes available at a reasonable price for my budget. But I hope Black Friday promotions and the introduction of the 2023 monitors will make a monitor achievable for around 500 Euros. Also for late 2022 it is expected that NVIDIA will introduce the RTX40xx devices what will influence people with deep pockets to buy monitors and so the just 60Hz I need and can benefit from with my graphics card for the MSFS2020. Even I have a hope that inflation and shortages due to the war in Ucraine will force suppliers of monitors to dop the prices.

If you say so. :)

Electronics have been coming down in price, but that is subject to change as always, it sounds like you have a good plan though.

Is there anything else I can assist you with for this thread?

I want to share with you the result. I have purchased a 32" curved monitor from Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 taking advantage of a very attractive price I found. The monitor offers a 3840x2160 resolution with a maximum frame rate of 240Hz. This monitor for a certain time will not be the bottleneck in the chain of elements that make my PC and Microsoft Flying Simulator 2020 workstation. So now I am setting up this 32" monitor as my main display for MSFS2020 and center one. To at its both sides I place one of my 28" monitor with also 3840x2160 resolution and above those 2 28" monitor I place one of my 24" monitors. The 32" monitor is connected to my display using the DP of my graphic card and the 2 28" monitors to the HDMI ports of the card. The 2 24" monitors are connected to my PC via the Thunderbolt 4 ports of the motherboard so the graphic functionality of my CPU, the 11700k takes care of them.

Finally I want to say that I did purchase the highest quality cabling available.

from the OP
I want to share another fact:

52702906062_f526ffb766_c.jpg

I have all 3 monitors, each with a resolution of 3840x2160, for a total resolution in the horizontal direction of my resulting desktop of 3 x 3840= 11520 => 11520 x 2160 is the resolution of my desktop in W11 Pro. A small adaption is still due to have all 3 monitor displays at the same height.

I still have to further 2 24" monitors that I can connect to the motherboard directly using the Thunderbolt 4 interfaces of my motherboard that I plan to place above the center 32" monitor. Just the mounting of them is a problem and a cost issue. I just purchased this from BONTEC via Amazon:

It is wall mounted so I have some degree of freedom on how to position the 2 24" monitors. Those monitors make sense while doing programming as I can display information sources on them. Even in the sim MSFS2020 I can use it to display NaviGraph charts on them and while listening to music in YouTube.

I know that is luxury but as I have those monitors and my PC can handle it thanks to my rtx3080 graphics card and the 11700k CPu with the Thunderbolt connections available in my motherboard.
