So, I've had my PC for a few years now and it's treated me well. I got it pre built from AWD-IT in 2021. I was wanting to utilise the second HDMI Port in the back but found it wasn't working. Was on technical support for a few hours and the only thing they came up with was that the port maybe needed cleaning out. Anyways, that was a few months ago and now this evening I've found something very interesting. Let's play a game of spot the difference with HDMI 1 (My main monitor) and HDMI 2 (the "broken one"):
HDMI 1___________________________HDMI 2
And for the answer (drumroll please)....
These 2 metal clasps are present and seem to be part of the casing, not the HDMI Port. It's almost like a restraint so that when a cable is plugged in, the connection can't be fully made. From the look of them, I think they could be removed. I think cutting them off would be better than bending them back since they go a bit into the port and I don't want to damage it by forcing the clasps out. But I just wanted to check to see if these clasps are important or not. And if not, does anyone have some good suggestions on how to remove them so I can hopefully get this Port working again?
Also, just a little bonus, the PC came with this sticker on it saying that HDMI 1 is the Port for the Monitor. Almost like they didn't want HDMI 2 to be used. Coincidence? I think not!
