If the MBR gets damaged, it will render your Windows 10 computer unbootable. Fortunately, there's a way to repair it and get it working again. This guide will show you how. PCHF recommends you follow each and every step. Skipping a step can render your computer unusable and you'll have no choice but to reinstall the OS.

1.) Press F8 while booting the system to go into the Windows Recovery Menu. Unlike other version Windows 8’s recovery menu has the Metro UI style.

2.) Click on Troubleshoot.

3.) Click on Advanced options

4.) Open Command Prompt and enter the following commands one at a time.
Code:
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /fixMbr
bootrec /fixboot

5.) Reboot. You may need to enter a couple more commands below:

bootsect /nt60 SYS
or
Code:
bootsect /nt60 ALL
