How to disable SearchApp.exe in Windows 10

SearchApp.exe tends to be a bit of a resource hog, you already know that and you came here to see how to disable it so let's get right to it.

First you will want to add Unlocker to your right click menu.

Next open elevated command prompt:

Copy and paste the following and hit enter.

icacls "%windir%\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchApp.exe" /grant Everyone:F



Right click your taskbar and find searchapp.exe
Left click SearchApp.exe once.
Then right click and open file location.
Double click the C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy folder.
Scroll down to SearchApp.exe
Right click it once.
Left click Unlocker Then under "No Action"
Select rename.
Then rename it from SearchApp.exe to SearchApp.bak

Left click OK.
And left click ok after the confirmation that it has been renamed.

(Note: That Unlocker may request you reboot to perform the action)

Reboot your computer SearchApp.exe will no longer be running.

That's it simple. SearchApp.exe will no longer run on your Windows 10 computer.
