    Yeah I disabled the firewall too. Since my laptop has Norton as well I'm guessing that's not the issue (I should've mentioned that before). But anyway yeah I was able to access the files in file explorer. Thanks for all your help.

    My default browser is Chrome, but one particular website will only work with IE. Is there a way to create a shortcut to this page on the desktop that will open in IE? I created one, but it opens in Chrome. I don't want to change the default browser if I don't have to.

    Keeping the power key depressed didn't solve the problem, plus some of the keys are hard to depress & the media players are starting to act up.. Yeah, it's frustrating that now I'll have to spend several hundred on a new laptop due to my own stupidity, but maybe it wouldn't have lasted too much...
