Solved Fixing a drive that is now detected as RAW with TestDisk

Just thought I'd update in case it may be helpful to someone else - I wasn't able to use Testdisk to recover the partition and ended up using DMDE and R-Studio Recovery to view the files on the RAW drive to retrieve the files. Thanks Rustys for the help.

Solved Fixing a drive that is now detected as RAW with TestDisk

Oh yeah, I know. I'm booting the Alt Linux Repair suite to use TestDisk. I know about using ddrescue to clone, but I'm not sure if there's anything I should try to use for recovery. With EaseUS I actually didn't try to see if I could read the files because of the size, just the file listing...

Solved Fixing a drive that is now detected as RAW with TestDisk

I've actually installed EaseUS DRW to see if it could detect some of the files and it can, but they only seem to offer the option to retrieve files from RAW hard drives rather than to try to repair them. As a bit of a last resort, I may use it because it is able to preserve some file names...

Solved Fixing a drive that is now detected as RAW with TestDisk

So I may have suffered some kind of hiccup or power failure that caused an issue with the USB ports on my computer or hub. Regardless, I ended up with the issue where the drive is now detected as RAW and unable to be detected by Windows - it gives both the "Parameter is missing" error and asks...

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Yeah, my latest test was pulling out the RAM as well so the only thing was the CPU and the PSU (and the connections to the case that I didn't remove like the USB heads and LEDs).

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Yeah that seems likely. Maybe if I can find a cheap LGA 1155 board sometime, I'll try moving things over and see what's going on. (I assume it's totally not worth trying to find someone to diagnose and fix the MB haha) Thanks for the help!

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Just took some time over the weekend to try booting again with nothing but the CPU and basically the same behaviour unfortunately. No POST sounds and now display to video. :(

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Yeah, I wanted to try to find another board to test the CPU, but I discovered that the LGA 1155 boards are impossible to find now... I'll give another test a shot when I have time though and update. Thanks!

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Yep, I had tried this earlier - pulled everything from the computer except the CPU/fan, then tried to power it on with the 4pin and 24pin ATX power leads connected and everything turned on (case fan, cpu fan, case LEDs), but no display or beeps. I can try i again. :)

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Hi, no worries about the delay! Yep, I tested it with the ATX power connectors hooked up (and could see the case fans, gpu fans, and case lights power on). I also tested it with two different PSUs as well.

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Sure thing - here's a view of the mobo (I hope it's clear). I kept all the case cables connected, but that's everything off except the RAM which I had slotted back in and the CPU as I had mentioned before.

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Yeah I tried disconnecting and reconnecting almost everything that I could see, unless I somehow did something to the CPU which I haven't pulled out because I don't have any paste at the moment. The hard drives are in a small cage that I had to pull out. I also had to lay the entire case down...

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Ah so it could be POSTing but not displaying anything? I opened it up to try to change out a hard drive, so I'm assuming moving it did something, but since it doesn't seem to be displaying even with almost everything taken out (except the CPU) I just wasn't sure what it could be.

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

Pulled out the ram and gave it a shot and still no POST. I tried my old PSU just in case and it's the same behaviour - it is powering on the MB enough to turn on the fans and the power button LED, but no display or post. I think most signs are pointing to the motherboard at this point? Thanks.

PC turns on but doesn't POST or display anything to monitor

It doesn't POST, so I can't get into Windows unfortunately. It also doesn't beep either, so I may be missing a POST error, or it's not even getting that far. I'm just confused because the motherboard seems to be providing some power to the case fan and the power button/hard drive LEDs, but...
