    BIOS UEFI update

    Hello everyone,
I want to update my UEFI bios, the delivered paper manual suggests to rename the downloaded file to SX570E2.CAP and the online manual has a different name R570EGW2.CAP

Now I am not sure how to name it, is the paper manual right cause it came with the motherboard or is the online pdf right, cause it is newer and for the new UEFI file.

    thank you

I’d say the online manual would have updated information that the printed one but others may have a different suggestion.

You only need to rename the file IF you are using the USB method.

On my Asus board, I simply download the file, unzip it to an easy place to find on my SSD drive. Enter the BIOS, find the EZ flash function, follow the prompts. Do not turn your PC off while it’s updating.

No, other than my graphics card blinking all the time, nothing. Thats a different topic though for nvidias, buts 3 years old, thought an update would be a goid thing.

          Manual says SX570E2.CAP btw.

Unless it is to address a known issue you should never update the BIOS unless it is advised by the manufacturer of the hardware or alternatively if it is to allow for a CPU upgrade.

Updating things for no reason has a 50/50 chance of bricking your computer, don`t gamble unless you can (A) Do without the computer (B) have loads of spare cash and can buy a new one with no problem or (C) Both of the previous.

Alright i will leave that for now until the day i am ready to gamble aka ready for a new one. Question still stands though which naming would be right?

When you download the BIOS file, it also downloads a small utility called BIOSRenamer.exe
