Thanks for the update — and really appreciate the kind words! 😊

That is definitely frustrating when it comes back after you’ve already changed the settings. Unfortunately, Facebook sometimes overrides browser-level settings when it pushes out updates or tests new layouts, which can cause the Picture-in-Picture player to reappear even when disabled.

A few more things you can try:

    1. In Edge, go to:
    Code:
    edge://flags
Then search for “Picture-in-Picture” and set any active flags to Disabled, then restart Edge.
    2. Clear your Facebook cookies and cache once more — this often resets playback behavior.
    3. If it persists, consider testing Firefox; several users have reported that Facebook respects their PiP setting more reliably there.

Sadly, because Facebook controls the player behavior from their end, there isn’t always a permanent fix — but these steps usually minimize it.

Thanks again for sticking with it and for the kind feedback about the site — we’re always here if you need more help! 🙏

The flags setting did work for some video but not all i did manage to stop them with Ublock Origins settings below, the top one (red cross) is supposed to disable all pop ups but it didn't get them all so i tried element zapper mode (yellow box) and zapped a playing pop up in Facebook, this seems to have done the trick unfortunately i believe Chrome has already blocked its use so i assume itll stop working eventually on edge, maybe time to give a different browser a try when/if that happens.

        That’s a clever workaround — nicely done! 👏

Using uBlock Origin’s element zapper to block the floating video frame is a great approach, especially since Facebook’s Picture-in-Picture behavior can override browser settings. You’re absolutely right that Chrome is tightening restrictions on dynamic blocking, so if it stops working down the road, switching browsers (like Firefox or Brave) is a solid plan.

Thanks, uBlock origin seems to have sorted it but i have noticed you have to block the first pop up window every time you log in then it works for the rest of the time you use Facebook not ideal but better than the way it was.

            That’s great to hear — glad you’ve found a workable solution! 👍

Good observation about having to block the first pop-up after logging in. Facebook often reinitializes its video player session on login, which resets the element that uBlock Origin previously zapped. Unfortunately, that’s just part of how their frontend reloads dynamically.

Still, your method is one of the most effective ways to keep it under control — definitely better than having videos pop up constantly.

Thanks again for your detailed follow-ups; they’ll be really helpful to other members experiencing the same annoyance. 😊

                Back again.

Well the workarounds above didn't work or did for a short time then picture in picture would start popping out again the good news is I think I may finally have sussed it -

When a video pops out pause it in the small window then carry on viewing Facebook it looks like it wont load another video in picture in picture while the first one is still playing (paused) I have tested this quite a lot today and so far so good, I hope this helps someone not pull their hair out like I have .
