    ✅ Resolved Facebook

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

When I view video in Facebook and scroll to the next post the same video pops out in a small window in the bottom right corner of the monitor I have to then click X in this pop out window to close it, if I stop the video before moving to the next it doesn't do this but its a bit of a nuisance and its only recently started doing this, I am unaware of any settings I may have changed that has caused this.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Welcome to PCHF! 👋

Thanks for reaching out — and no worries, you’ve posted in the right section. 😊

What you’re describing is Facebook’s “Picture-in-Picture” (PiP) feature, which automatically keeps videos playing in a small floating window when you scroll away from the original post. It’s designed to let you keep watching while browsing, but it can definitely be annoying if you prefer it off.

    💻 On Desktop (Web Browser)
    1. While a video is playing, hover over the pop-out window.
    2. Look for a small settings gear ⚙️ or PiP icon — click it and select “Turn off mini player” (or similar wording).
    3. If that option doesn’t appear, check your browser settings:
    - Chrome: Go to
    Code:
    chrome://settings/content/pictureInPicture
and disable PiP permissions for Facebook.
    - Edge: Go to
    Code:
    edge://settings/content/pictureInPicture
    and toggle the same.
    - Firefox: In the video itself, right-click twice and deselect “Enable Picture-in-Picture.”

    📱 On Mobile
If this happens in the Facebook app, it’s a built-in feature with limited control. The only workaround is to pause or stop the video before scrolling, or to use Facebook Lite or the mobile browser version, which don’t auto-launch PiP as aggressively.

Let us know which browser or app you’re using (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and we can guide you through the exact steps to turn it off completely.

What’s the video about? Most likely it’s an ad.

                  Thanks Jmarket.

I had to use the EDGE link you provided as the settings in the pic in pic window didn't work for me, it took me to this page so i entered picture in picture in the search box and it came up with this, switching it off has worked for most videos but i am still seeing some, i can live with that, thanks again forthe quick response.

Glad to hear that helped! 👍

Facebook can be a bit inconsistent with its Picture-in-Picture behavior — some videos (especially ads or reels) are handled differently and may still trigger the mini-player even when the setting is disabled in Edge.

You can try the following additional steps if you’d like to reduce it further:

                    1. Clear your Facebook cookies and cache — sometimes old playback settings persist.
                    2. In Edge, go to:
                    Code:
                    edge://settings/system
and toggle Use hardware acceleration when available off temporarily to see if it changes behavior.
                    3. If you’re using any video or ad-blocking extensions, check if they affect embedded player controls.

Otherwise, if it’s only happening occasionally, you’re right — it’s safe to just ignore it or close the window when it appears. 😊

Looks like it’s the main video but in windowed mode, if you click on the three dots do any options show to restore the video?
Does the problem occur using another browser?

This is what the 3 dots brings up and its the same on chrome.
