OK, so I was adding a third M.2 drive to my Asus ROG Strix B560-F mobo which required removing the graphics card. As I pulled the card from the socket something fell out from somewhere and landed in the back of the case. I retrieved the part, but have no idea what it is, what it does, or where it came from. Can someone enlighten me? Photos attached. Btw, the PC seems to be runninmg fine without it! (btw the graphics card is an EVGA 3080)
Thanks guys for the replies. The ‘clip holding the graphics card in place’ theory sounds sensible. I’ve never had a PC with one of these before, so just wasn’t expecting there to be anything like this. The manual is pretty much the same as the printed copy I’ve already checked out, and it doesn’t mention anything about clips to help keep GPUs in place, so I’m guessing it came with the graphics card itself. Unforuneately, the doc that came with the card is hopeless, but I’ll try and find a proper manual online. Thanks again, guys.
Are yes, the e-bay photo was really helpful and the mystery part is now back in it’s rightful place. Pity the mobo manual doesn’t mention that you need to release this clip to get the board out!
