Hello,
I am hoping someone has some advice for the below issue I am experiencing.

Specs:
Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: XFX AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Speedster MERC 310 Graphics Card for Gaming - 24GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D Processor
Motherboard: MSI AMD MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 DDR5 ATX Gaming Motherboard
BIOS Version: 1.E0
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB DDR5 6400MHz CL32 Desktop Memory - Black
PSU: CORSAIR RMe Series RM850e Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power Supply
Case: CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB Mid Tower ATX Gaming PC Case - White
GPU Drivers: 24.12.1
Chipset Drivers: AMD CHIPSET DRIVERS VERSION 6.10.17.152

Description of Original Problem:
Since booting for the first time I had random restarts. Example was after click "install updates" on Windows Update both screens went black and computer automatically restarted. It also totally bricked when left on idle and once 5-10 minutes into playing a game it again restarted automatically.

Background Applications:
Chrome, Spotify, FS Dream Team Installer

Troubleshooting:
I have reinstalled Windows and left it on 12+hrs with no freeze. I was using Spotify, just installed .net framework and just just "install" to install a piece of software and again it bricked and automatically restarted.

On this particular restart the documents folder / downloads folder is missing. I can still access it via C:/ route but if I attempt re-pin it to a location it errors and wont do it due to disk error.

Does anyone have any ideas of a potential culprit? Would appreciate any assistance.

Hello

The psu does not get good reviews.. Let me get you more help.

@phillpower2
Hey, thanks!
I am starting to suspect that maybe one of the drives is faulty or it could be the PSU, as the issue occurs totally randomly. Even trying to recreate the crash/restart is impossible.

Further to above I have also updated BIOS to latest stable version 1.F0.

Update! I have swapped the PSU with an identical one, still the same issue.
It was idle for 5-6 hours nothing running, went to use it and within 2 minutes, black screen and automatic restart.
I am suspecting RAM or drive issue?

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, AMD state here up to 5200MHz/MT/s and if you have EXPO/XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will become unstable.

AS a starting point;

Make sure that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced and not High Performance or Ryzen Balanced.

Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" "most stable" or on newer boards "optimized" please note that if you have both the "most stable" and the "optimized" options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the "optimized" settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.
Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.

We completed all that, along with swapping our RAM/PSU/NVME drives. Error persists.
I am guessing this is going to be a CPU/Mobo issue? or even the PSU cables?

Just A-XMP was never enabled. From what I’ve noticed it seems to do this when idle or not using much resources. When stress testing RAM/CPU/GPU is fine. It happens randomly.

Like today it happened as soon as I opened event viewer, then again when I pressed “send on discord”. It also happened yesterday as soon as I pressed “print”.

So far I’ve swapped identical RAM/PSU and M2s from an identical build.

I’m suspecting it’s either mobo or drivers?

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Just A-XMP was never enabled.

Not sure how we were meant to know this and especially when you told us that the RAM was 6400MHz :p

( 1 ) Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

( 2 ) Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

Couple of problems there, one with the Windows installation itself and one caused by Speedfan that has been flagged up numerous times as a potentially unwelcome popup ( PUP ) the latter means that we will need to tag security expert Malnutrition as he is the only one able to help you with it.

Speccy looks okay in the main but the driver installation looks a bit off.

@david891

We will take a look and make sure we clean your machine of any unwanted items.

Please download FRST 64bit It is important FRST is downloaded to your desktop.
Once downloaded right click the FRST desktop icon and select "Run as administrator" from the menu
If you receive any security warnings, or the User Account Control warning opens at any time whilst using FRST you can safely allow FRST to proceed.
FRST will open with two dialogue boxes, accept the disclaimer.

  1. Then select Scan
  2. Frst will take a few minutes to scan your computer, and when finished will produce two log files on your desktop, FRST.txt, and Addition.txt.
  3. They will display immediately on the desktop, attach those both in your next reply.
