Hi! I have a problem with my motherboard i think..or im doing something wrong,. cause when troubleshooting it before I put it in my case, it doesn't work to put a screwdriver on the power pins..as i normally do. But when I hold a screwdriver in the f.usb 1, (also the other nr 2 works) and touch the power pins with a screwdriver, and if i hold the screwdriver in the f.usb, it works fine..so how to keep it on? I cant just hold the screwdriver forever lol.. and no, i don't have warranty. Its a X570 AORUS PRO WIFI Motherboard, 550w psu, 8gb ram the PSU and RAM works fine with other x570 motherboards

Hello

So did you install the mobo? Just clarifying .
not in the case but everything is connected and i found a way to turn it on using 2 power button cables(i have a ton of cables like that) in the front f.usb click and holding them in, then click the powerbutton on the case! So i have to open those buttons to connect them so i can have the pc on! wierd. or im just supertired lol..but it works at least..its a unused mobo, just been in my storage.. hope there is another solution

Can you put the cardboard on the case and the motherboard on the cardboard.
Plug the case front usb cable in
Will it boot?
Tried that and i now i intstalled it in the case, also with the front usb in. same problem. so wierd, i never experienced anything like this before. Might try another case, maybe its the front usb cable.. but dont have another case atm. Trying to think of a better solution than using a screw.lol

this is the pin out for the mobo usb headers.

(upside down in your case)

plugging in those momentary switches and that screw (???) into the left side would have shorted out the Data negative pins to the 5v positive pins on both USB rows (one row each for each front USB port).

so while no expert, if the mobo wasn't faulty to begin with, and it sounds like it may have been, it would now be even more likely to be faulty.
I've seen sparks come out of a mangled front USB port when a USB stick was inserted and the pins all touched each other.

any reason why this mobo was lying around?
did it come out of an old rig, or bought and never used?

yes as you point out, thats where i have the screw, and works like a sharm..no sparks, so lucky so far.. I had one faulty, that i got RMA, so bought a new one before i got the other back.. i tested it then, didnt work. so i just kept it in storage. But something told me to test it again, and here we are. its just a backup board, so not so important. but still.. its a good board when workin. I also asked gigabyte, they didnt understand my issue lol--but i can understand them also.

so which is this mobo, the one you paid for waiting for the RMA to come back, or the RMA'd mobo?

there may be no sparks now cause the 'damage' is already done.
I would think there is a integrated chip on the mobo somewhere that controls that USB header, and it is now fried.

why the mobo never started by shorting out the PWR SW pins is one mystery, and why it does start shorting out those USB pins is another.

sorry - no logical answer for that! (apart from a faulty mobo) :)

Its the RMA mobo. Yeah, ive buildt 100s of systems but never experienced this issue. But as long as it works its fine. Just trying to think of something else other than a screw in that front usb. I tested wit 2 power button cables, its turning on, but not enough power to start it. Im no electrician, and this issue i cant find anywhere online. Somethings have to be the first right :P

whoa - hang on, I must have missed that little gem.

so shorting out those USB header pins just makes the PC 'come alive'.
you still can't get it to stay on and get into Windows???

i get into windows, so no issue with that. just trying now to figure out a alternative soulution instead of a screw
