Sounds like the mouse buttons may have worn out. Have you tried replacing the mouse to see if that helps?

I didnt have another mouse handy to test it. Its a relatively new mouse as well. I dropped it a few times but it still works until recently..
Well if you dropped it then the buttons could have gotten damaged from the impact. You will need to rule out that the mouse isn't damaged by using another one and see if the same issue happens.
