Windows 11 build 24H2, confirmed up to date in Windows Update. No USB device had been plugged in except Apple extended keyboard and Kensington Expert Mouse, which is a wired trackball that has always worked normally. Removing the ball from the trackball unit, the laser was off. Restarting the computer fixed the problem. Is this a problem with the mouse, or with Windows 11? Problem has recurred recently.

The tool is not signed. I have not submitted it to antivirus companies so that it is not detected by their engines, This is windows defender doing it's job protecting your machine from an unknown .exe.

It is what as known as a false positive. I am waiting until I have all the kinks worked out and all the feature I need added before I submit it. I assure you there is no malware contained in the tool. I have no interest in creating anything malicious and could not see any benefit in doing so, The tool simply gathers logs for helping diagnose computer issues. (y)

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I cannot enter "Microsoft Defender Portal" since MS writes that my account is a personal account and I have to reference some organization or other. Have not been able to find a way to get into that "portal" to classify the alert as a "false positive." This is probably the result of a "Mac" person trying to learn new DIY Windows 11 PC protocol. All my games play perfectly, but dealing with MS has been problematic from the beginning.

No other problems, thanks. Yes, it's been 10 days, but the machine had been running flawlessly since Win 11 was installed for about 6 months, until that message showed up for the first time. (However that was on 23H2, and it's only been on 24H2 for about 2 weeks.) So... maybe the software update did fix it.
