All of a sudden in Word the text has started to split at the end of a line and leaves part of the word on the line and the other part drops down to the next line and sometimes the words stops before the end of the line and the whole word drops to the next line
I have not made any changes - it was working fine and then the fault started
I use Office 365
Can someone help please

Not sure if you're still looking for assistance, but right-click anywhere in the textfield your document and click Paragraph. Under Pagination, make sure your settings are the default:

There is a brute force solution for older versions of Office, but I don't think that applies to Office 365. You must've accidentally hit a shortcut that changed your line breaks. Check this for now.

I apologise for the delay in replying
My broadband is by ADSL on my landline and the landline went down because a telegraph pole and cabling fell and my provider BT have not yet retored the pole but they have provided a temporary service
I have just followed the instructions by Alkajak and the settings are OK - so the problem is not yet fixed

Yes it is just one document
If I copy the document and paste it into a blank word document the same fault occurs
If I just select a blank word document and start an entirely new document there is no problem
I know where paragraph settings are but what would I be looking for
Since I got Office 365 when I got a new laptop I can't find my way round Word very easily - it seems very complicated - For years I used Word 2003 which I found muchn more user friendly
So I don't know where auto correct is = probably staringb me in the face but I can't just see it

Have to agree the older version of office were so much easer to utilize.

Found Remove hyphens from a paragraph or paragraphs
Scroll Down a bit to get to that section.

If it is just a text document I would suggest copying it to Note Pad then remove the hyphens and fix the words then open a blank Word document and paste it back in there.

Since you are going form Word to Word it is also copying over the formatting that is giving you grief.

Check under the Page Layout tab and look for Hyphenation click that and select None.

I learned WordPerfect when I first got involved with computers. WP is way better than word. We'd turn on "reveal codes" and see all the formatting. It was very easy to correct by removing some formatting that should not have been in the "document". When the corrections were done, you'd turn off reveal code and get the proper "document" to print.

My husband uses WordPerfect to type most notes/letters etc. (and when he had to create Calculus tests) but prefers Excel to QuatroPro. As a result, I always need to install two Office Suites on his computers.

Thank you Rustys
I hace copied the document into Note Pad and fixed it and copied it back into a blank document in Word and it is fine
I have reviewed all the settings that you have mentioned but the original document is still giving me grief so I will get rid of it now that I have a clean version
