So I woke up this morning to "Aptio Setup Utility" saying "ROM Layout mismatch detected, partial update is not allowed, only full image can be updated, proceed with flash update". I just got this laptop in May. It is a MSI Alpha 15 A3DDK. The only issues I've been noticing are they keyboard backlights stopped working and the computer froze up for like a second twice last night.

So, what does this mean? What is it doing once I hit flash update? Should I unplug my external hard drive for this?

Thanks in advance you guys, I've never seen this before and I need this for school work, but it's still in the manufacturer warranty if I need to use that.

Hello

Yes unplug your external HDD and see if that helps.
Would this be caused by the external HDD? I asked if I should unplug it in case it would lose data because of a wipe or something. All of the stuff on the laptop is currently pulled from the HDD instead of the internal SSD because I wanted to save the SSD for other things.

If you were not transferring data when this happened and your external storage device does not show the LED to be blinking then it is safe to disconnect the external storage device, once disconnected you should try pressing F9 to load the Optimised Defaults.
