After installing winver 2004, is it perfectly safe to delete Windows Old folder?

Any known problems with 2004?

That is up to you @roger hawke might want to hang on to it for a bit then as long as you are not having issues then remove the old folder.

Did find this on a basic google search here are a few links.

I updated yesterday which made my laptop as slow as treacle so I recovered via Macrium image.
Also on starting the upgrade I saw a message about ‘updates were downloaded but install needs to restart to continue’ which I hadn’t seen before.
I’m currently trying again & saw this message again so I’ll see what happens after completion.

I have rolled back to 1909 for now.
Will install 2004 when it is known to be more stable.

Can I safely delete “download” folder in Software Distribution which is in Windows folder?
It is taking up about 9gb of space since I rolled back to1909.

If you want to remove the Windows old folder and other junk after an update have a look at this guide. Warning if you remove the folders and files created during the update you will not be able to roll back the update. The guide is a little out of date (re creators update) but still works.

Evan,
Thanks for that,

Did what you suggested i.e. removed the contents of Download folder only.
Thanks to all for responses.

How long does it usually take for a new Windows version to get sorted?

It really depends on how many major bugs that Microsoft needs to fix. Microsoft released it when they decided it was ready so if they did a good amount of QA testing then it should work fine for the majority of Windows user's. But as always with new releases, proceed with caution and back up your data before deciding to upgrade.
