Windows Firewall & Identity Thieves

there's no correct answer for this. it all depends on what your are trying to achieve. and for every answer, there'll be an exception!
Windows Firewall, like most, works at the Programs and Ports level, so if an attack is via those avenues, and WF has the appropriate rule in place, then Yes.
but if it's some dodgy or malicious web site and they record your personal details then No.
sadly we live in a time when no one security approach is enough. It's all about the layers now.
so get a good AV with firewall program (Windows Defender now is in that class), get real-time malware protection (eg: MBAM), get adblockers for all your browsers (like uBlock Origin), and also consider modifying other areas like the HOSTS file (via MVPS website's file) and setting killbits (thru SpywareBlaster).
