Yesterday I installed Windows 10 on a HDD for a friend. I did it by plugging his HDD into my computer via one of my mobo SATA headers (it was a 3.5 inch internal drive so I couldn't do it via USB) I used the Windows Media Creation Tool, made sure to select his HDD and not my HDD which already has Windows on it, and successfully installed Windows on the drive for him. After updating Windows for him I powered off my computer then unplugged the HDD from my computer. BUT when I turned my computer back on I got a blue screen saying RECOVERY Your PC/Device needs to be Repaired A Required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error code 0xc000000e, and to pick some options, F1 to enter Recovery Environment, F8 for Startup Settings, Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings and F9 to use a Different operating system. I select F9 then it goes to a screen asking me to choose an operating system Windows 10, or Windows 10 on volume 4, I select Windows 10 on volume 4 and it successfully boots up to the correct Windows 10.
So I was wondering how this happened that it thinks there is two Windows installs on my PC when the only place I installed Windows was on his HDD, it seems to me like a fragment of Windows got installed somewhere else. How do I fix this, should I enter the Recovery Environment or maybe mess with Startup Settings? Any help is appreciated.
