Hello, this is my second post attempting to figure out what to do to keep my Windows 7 PC safe (if that can possibly be done without removing it from the internet).

Can I put a virtual machine running Linux into my Windows 7 PC and use that for internet business, and keep my Windows 7 files and software safe?

Can I create a firewall that alerts me about every little thing that tries to come through, for me to manually approve or disapprove?

Thank you! (I really cannot change systems right now. I am considering getting a used Chromebook to dedicate to internet usage...are Chromebooks going to be obsolete soon too? I am out of the loop.)

You already have an ongoing thread here ConfusedArtist, no need for the two threads as you can ask gus anything else that you need to know in the other thread.
