Solved Windows 7 64 bit shows red cross on network icon

Dear folk

My desktop windows 7 64 bit was working fine til I walked up yesterday and there was a red cross on the network icon!!!

Ethernet cable working fine as when i hooked it to my laptop everything is working fine , means problem lies within the desktop and nothing wrong with cable or router port.

Troubleshoot that I had done so far :

Restarted desktop 3 times, uninstalled LAN driver, connected new Ethernet cable

What else I need to check to find out what is going on ?

Thanks

Welcome to PCHF zillah,

From the info above there two possible common causes, the LAN device has been disabled/failed and driver issues, the latter could be that there are no drivers installed or that any installed drivers are incompatible.

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the MB, providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

Glad you got it sorted zillah and thanks for posting the solution so that it may help others

You are welcome btw and kudos for acknowledging JohnC_21 who has helped many folk over the years (y)
