No worries, we all have our off days as did I when thinking Windows was out of date :whistle:

Task Manager shows what is using so much RAM, Defender and IE being top of the list, nothing to worry about though as we can see that the higher than normal memory use is because you are using the integrated graphics which uses the system memory for support.

A replacement PSU should be all that is required then.

Ad,

If I went for a 600w PSU would this be OK?
If so, can you suggest some good ones?

If I bought on line, how can I be sure it would fit in the same place as existing. Surely they must come in different sizes?

Not having any add on video card you do not need anything near a 600W PSU so the extra cost would be a waste, a good 300W PSU if you could find one would cost as much as a good 500W unit so I would suggest you go for a 500W PSU as this will allow you to fit an up to mid range add on video card in the future, something like the example here you can get the 400W version for around £5 less.

Your present PSU is a generic ATX type so any replacement ATX will fit;

The OCZ dimensions are 5.9" x 5.5" x 3.34"

The Be Ouiet dimensions are;

Width 150 mm
Depth 140 mm
Height 86 mm

Ad,
Thanks for info.

Was "Be Quiet" a recommend or just an example?

Shut downs/Restarts obviously still occurring - seems to be about 20 seconds after turning on PC - after that all seems OK.

Be Quiet are a good brand, would normally suggest Corsair, EVGA or Seasonic but for what you need they are pricey and BQ are a reliable brand.

That behaviour sounds like a problem with the power good signal between the PSU and the MB.

Ad,

Thanks again for further info.
Seems pretty much like a PSU problem.

Can I just thank you very much for all your time and effort - been a pleasure dealing with you, as always.
I'll come back to you some time in the future to let you know the situation - not sure when I'll get a new PSU at the moment.

Once again - sincere thanks(y)
