Windows 10 Anniversary Update Issues

I had Defender's limited periodic scanning on but it interfered with Norton so disabled Defender, restarted laptop & there was no slowdown.
I wonder if Defender scans at startup & that's why it was slow.
If virus scans run at startup, it will indeed cause a slowdown. Usually scans will run after it boots to the desktop. You can disable these bootup scans to increase startup speed. :)

If defender was on real time protection then yes it could interfere with norton...

This is part of the reason why I've stuck with Windows 7. While I think Windows 10 is an improvement over Windows 8, Windows 7 I think is the best version of Windows that Microsoft has released.

When you have all these instability issues with the Windows 10 AU and you have to perform over a dozen tweaks just to make Windows 10 usable like Windows 7, I think that's a step backward in overall functionality and its no wonder why there are many users who are not upgrading to Windows 10.

While Windows 10 BECOMES usable after heavily tweaking it, it just leads to more work us tech's have to do when Windows 7 didn't require nearly as much work to get rid of all the stupid annoyances. As time goes on hopefully we will see Windows 10 become more stable and not less, otherwise Microsoft really needs to step up their game with the reliability and quality control of their Windows Updates. Sending out new updates without fully testing them for issues is unacceptable and I refuse to be a beta tester with trying to report and fix Microsoft's mistakes.

I am reading that some new owners of pc's with and OEM win 10 are stuck with 10.. Supposedly MS forced some companies to modify the bio to where you can't use another os..according to the complaints from companies and individuals,of course the individuals had to find out the hard way..
