Solved Win7 Startup

Status
Not open for further replies.
Recently I had a good session with Gus on the above (Win7 Startup).
I have just noticed that there are now no entries in msconfig/Startup. (Must be a consequence of the procedures we went through)
Perhaps Gus can please take this one up again?

Hi roger, yes we cleaned out your startup items, but that's ok as the less stuff starting up with your PC the better. You will notice as you install stuff in the future some startup junk will reappear. There was nothing in your old startups that was important.

Gus,
Thanks for reply, I was hoping you would say that.
I slightly misled you when I said there was nothing inmsconfig startup - there was an entry for Everything and for Zemana which I have unticked (is that OK?)
apart from those two items there was nothing else.

I seem to remember that there used to be Microsoft items in msconfig startup - is that no longer the case?

Thanks for that Gus - I've done as you suggested.
Three questions if you don't mind:
(1) How easy is it to delete entries from msconfig/startup?
(2) How does one add entries to msconfig/startup?
(3) Is there anything I should definitely need in msconfig/startup?

BTW PC is running great.

Would suggest you only disable stuff, that way it is reversible.

How does one add entries to msconfig/startup?

Installing some software can add entries. Would not suggest you try to add stuff manually. If you want something to start with Windows drag it to your start up folder. The less you have in startup the better.

Is there anything I should definitely need in msconfig/startup?

From what I've seen on your PC, No. It is probably now like it was when your machine was new:)
