win10 desperation !!

last time I contacted forum Iwas having probs with converting PC with Win7 loaded to the 'free win10 upgrade
after all your assistance I finally got Win 10 on a stable footing -and thanks !
But gather as MSissue updates -these are auto and you do not get choice of when to install etc - is this correct
Problem is I have software program that is protected by Crypkey (dongol type security system) that now will not fully function after critical update
Have tried several attempts reloading software via developer contact - but getting nowhere - and tried system restore point but couldnt get back to before ms critical update so sat here unable to move forward
Have thought about doing an up to date win10 reset after backing up and retaining my docs/files and starting again removing unused /old software and reinstalling regular ones -ie clean start Never done anything so drastic before Is it a wise option and what are pitfalls Your guidance would be appreciated
PS Win 7 was on pc previously -no probs but I fell for hype of upgrading to win10 and have had occasional DO YOU WANT TO START IN WIN10 OR PREVIOUS VERSION OF WINDOWS screen prompt leading me to believe its still about but didnt want to risk trying to go back again and create yet more probs so thought that now win10 has developed further and should have all bugs ironed out -stick with it -but didnt want thisprob with swareI use -or did-daily
yourthoughts appreciated

You cannot choose what particular updates to download, but you can control when they will. Also if you want you can turn updates off all together, although that is not a long term best practice.

If I do clean install to try sort this problem re software incompatibility can I get back into my yahoo e-mail messages -ie are they lost and we start again following installation . The links for some sofware progs are in messages so need to access the messages to renew programmes that are giving problems thanks

hi SAMURIA t
Itook your advice and loaded the latest win10 (have responded on this sitebecause it wasnt win7 -hope I havent caused any confusion Do youwant to continue with the cad security problem on that site??)

However the win10 hasnt solved that problem and other suggestions /solution possibilities were mad as you will be aware
But the surprise I got after Win10 update link you provided
...........on booting the screen asked "Did I want to use Win10 or a previous version of Windows -- presumably the Win7 I upgraded from and on whichn the problem software was working ! I didnt log into that though as I wasnt sure what the situation was and I was under the impression that after 30days the old OS was deleted after last yearsupgrade
Would apprteciate your further guidance re whether I try that alternative option and see if it solves the security/cad problem

First you need to login to the new version I assume the old version is an old win10 that has been part of an update then see how it goes then. Does the software have an exe to load it if so right click and try setting compatable modes see if they work or right click and choose run as admin

Hi fellas -and Samurai for his assistance and patience!
Old thread that closed for replies but an update
Saved my files and docs as backup if anything went wromg and carried out a repair install
Win 10 and software all worked and at startup I was receiving the Win 10 selection of interesting photos and CAD and other software working
Only annoying issue was that PC took 42 seconds to boot from welcome screen to actual start
I could live with that but from cold it took/takes approx 22mins from switch on to "welcome" screen!!
So because all worked fine including CAD I chose to go into sleep mode on finishing sessions and live with the 42 secs

.........and then "here we go again" ..........I received the updates to get me up to date with latest Win10(which I understand has moved on from Anniversary edition?) and at the moment now ..........
1 From cold ---22 mins to welcome screen
2 42 secs boot time
3 Not receiving the "attractive photos " on welcome screen option
.......and getting regularly a BSOD that says "unexpected kernel mode trap " that machine solves by rebooting and taking another 22 mins before I can do anything

Like my initial contact , I wish Id never bothered with Win 10 and at the moment the next action could well be a sledgehammer!!
Any suggestions --as I say once Ive suffered the annoying bits quoted --- we`re up and running and all working perfectly until switch off /and restart when at moment its around 44 mins if kernel message appears
UUUUUGH!
