Have over the last 3days taken on the arduous task of taking on Win10 and getting it to work as expected. After a lot of lost time, one of my biggest discoveries was that incorporated in the system was a Windows Update assistant.
After 4 hours this little fellow had total changed the look and operation on Win10,making it a much more functional and understood system.

However every good deed seems to cause problems
I have 2 drives,(C) and (D)
Drive C capacity is approx. 28.2GB with only 223 mb free!!

Drive D capacity is 32GB and is virtually empty,
.
Files on Drive C are as follows,Intel,Perflogs,Program Files,Program files (X86),Users,Windows,Windows old,Windows 10 upgrade,Recovery.

Can I move some of these files to Drive D (to provide some more space on the main drive C)without upsetting the present set up ,which took a lot of patience and time to upgrade and setup?

In a word NO.
How big is the Hard Disk Drive in that system?

Drive C capacity is approx. 28.2GB with only 223 mb free!!
You sure that is not to be GB and not MB? If it is MB then I would suggest getting a larger HDD.

Files on Drive C are as follows,Intel,Perflogs,Program Files,Program files (X86),Users,Windows,
No you can not move the files to the D: Drive those are required for windows and are an integrated part of windows.
Windows old,Windows 10 upgrade,Recovery
I would run the windows disk cleaner that will clear out some of this stuff.

Moving some stuff like that would brick you system causing you to have to do a factory reinstall and starting all over again.

28.30GB Drive C
32GB Drive D

Definitely GB not MB, as for larger HD agree a definite requirement, can you give advice on how to increase my present HD capacity without deleting or moving files, I understand that stand alone hard drives are available? Which make please and how to use?
Taken on board your advice on not moving files between drives.
Windows cleaner installed with Win10 stated all files including temp files in use!
I have so little memory left I cannot even update my new security settings!!!!! ADVICE PLEASE!

What is the make and model of the system?

Please go into Disk Manager and post a screen shot.

You stated this
Drive C capacity is approx. 28.2GB with only 223 mb free!!
I asked

You answered this

So if you have 223 GB free on C drive I do not see an issue.

Which is why I have requested a screen shot so we can see exactly what is going on with the Drive.

If you have any downloads and or stored files you may want to transfer them to an external drive.

What was the out come after running the disk cleaner?

Sorry we are at cross purposes. My reply to your Question ( quote)
"You sure that is not to be GB and not MB? If it is MB then I would suggest getting a larger HDD."

My reply was regarding my initial statement that the free space was indeed MB and not GB. and That the hard drive was only 29GB which is absorbed by the operating system of Win10..TO reiterate the free space is only 223mb.
The PC is only a small Toshiba satellite C40-C-10Q HD29GB.It was given to my daughter by Sky as part of a package, she in turn gave it to me!
As it came fully booted and spurred with WIN10 I thought it would be an easy op to update It and use it in place of my Win7 desktop. That doesn't appear to be the case so my next move is to purchase a legal copy of Microsoft Win10 and install it on my desktop and keep the laptop as a notebook!
As for outcome of running disk cleaner there wasn't one really as it is extremely sophisticated and indicates all areas where space can be achieved and also gives full info on all items that could be deleted and possible outcome on the operating system, the outcome being NO files could be Cleaned or/deleted as all files including temp files were required. The only files on this PC are those of Win10,no photos etc no personal stuff, just the operating system.
So as said will update my desktop which has oodles of HD and should give no problems.
Thank you very much for your input really appreciated (y)

That is strange that you only have that much Drive left with just the Operating System installed.

I have the same system in a Dell and with just Windows 10 installed and drivers it takes maybe 14 GB and I have 28 GB left. The only thing mine does is sit on a shelf collecting dust. I only use it if I need to find something in Windows 10.

Knowing what it may not be capable of installing another Drive you would have to look at the specs to see if there are SATA connectors.

I and no problems until it came to installing latest update 10th Nov. 2019,at which point all space was used. The update warns about this as its a reinstall of a reworked Win1o and changes and improves everything at a cost. See below

  • When the Windows 10 November 2019 Update is ready for your device, it will be available to download from the Windows Update page in Settings. Choose a time that works best for you to download the update. You'll then need to restart your device and complete the installation. After that, your device will be running Windows 10, version 1909. (To check whether you're already running the November 2019 Update, select View update historyon the Windows Update settings page.) Also note the following:
    • If you want to install the update now, select Start Windows logo Start button > Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon > Update & Security Circular arrows Sync icon > Windows Update Circular arrows Sync icon, and then select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.
    • If version 1909 isn't offered automatically through Check for updates, you can get it manually through the Update Assistant.
    • If you run into problems updating your device, including problems with previous major updates, see common fixes at Troubleshoot problems updating Windows 10, or use Fix Windows update issues to step you through the troubleshooting process.
    • If you're warned by Windows Update that you don't have enough space on your device to install the update, see Free up space.
    • If you experience internet connection issues while updating your device, see Fix network connection issues in Windows.
  • If you're still running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 and want to make the move to Windows 10, you can learn more at Upgrade to Windows 10: FAQ.

Lets try this so see what is going on with the system.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

I RE- run storage seeker, and was informed I could delete "old" version pf windows plus related apps, this resulted in 8GB space, ample for full download, system now all secure and running with space to spare. I am going to upgrade to a proper desktop as opposed to this small laptop. So than you once again, your advice did assist, please mark as solved and I will go back to the big boys world!!!!!
