Why won’t my web browsers won’t load?

I’m connected to the internet but none of the web browsers on my laptop will load. Apps like Discord and Steam function perfectly fine, I was on a voice call when the issue started and there were no issues with that. If I restart my computer I can load web pages for 10-20 minutes before everything stops again. I’ve done multiple virus scans that found nothing and updated my computer but none of that has fixed anything. What’s going on with my computer and how do I fix it?

In addition to the below, using a VPN 100% interferes with an internet connection and in all honesty people on the right side of the law have zero need for them.

Windows Defender
Windows Defender: Enabled
Firewall
Firewall: Enabled

Display Name: Norton Security Ultra
Antivirus
Windows Defender
Antivirus: Enabled

Virus Signature Database: Up to date
Norton Security Ultra
Antivirus: Disabled

Virus Signature Database: Up to date

As a starting point get rid of anything Norton related, it isn`t working properly and Windows own Defender is better protection wise and does not hog system resources like Norton does, seemy canned explanation below;

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Norton uninstall info here

Once Norton has been correctly uninstalled, restart and check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Once done, restart, test by using the computer as you normally, post back with an update when you are ready.

My laptop will load pages for about 10 minutes following a restart before things stop. What I meant was that uninstalling Norton didn’t change anything, after 10 minutes of using my computer normally no web pages would load again.

That suggests that something is blocking the connection, a Firewall for example.

Post a new Speccy url for us so that we can make sure that there are no traces of Norton left.

Speccy is still detecting Norton and the member using a VPN both of which will affect browser behaviour.

To avoid us having to ask for an update every couple of days we will close this thread until the OP has the time available to work towards resolving the issue, PM a member of staff when you are ready and the thread can be reopened
