Solved Where does vdg wire go?

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi, I just built a pc, but I just found out my case is a 5v 3pin and does not support my 12v 4 pin motherboard. How would I connect my Vdg connector? Do I need to buy a connector? Or a converter. Please help.

Without knowing your case and MB details it is not possible for anyone to even be able to hazard a guess, post the brand and model name or number of both and one of us will take a look for you.

In case you are not aware, not all case wires are used on every MB, the cases are made to support both AMD and Intel builds and they likewise do not use the same type of connectors that every case ships with.

HI, my MB is MSI x470 i am pretty sure its 12v 4pin, My case is 5v 3pin. They are not compatible. Is there a way to fix this?

What you ask is not doable for two reasons, one you could have gotten around but the other not, the voltage difference yes but the 3 and 4 pin mismatch unfortunately not, if both were 4 pin connectors you could have used a controller like the one here

Okay, does that mean i need a new Tower Case with a 12v 4pin

Going by the information provided that would be a yes but if you provide the case information for us we will double check to confirm it.
here is the one i plan on buying, will it be compatible.

I was asking about your present case and not one that you may purchase.

Honest answer is that after looking around online i would suggest that you get a different brand of case, the amount of complaints about the poor quality of the cases, the lack of any website that you can go to for to support and last but not least you are lucky if you actually receive an installation guide with the case.

Short version, unable to find anything about how to set the case up or about any internal wiring musetex 903 manual

Sorry but not my thing so can`t help I`m afraid, as was previously mentioned cases are made to support both AMD and Intel builds so internal wiring will differ.

Only way you are going to be able to do this is to download the manual for any case that you like the look of and check the internal wiring set up, you may want to do this when have a whole day to yourself as you will need it.
