Hello. I contacted Nvidia support about this but they somehow didn't understand my question. One of them told me my driver isn't a nvidia driver.......

So anyway. I manually downloaded and installed a new driver. It was a standard driver.

However, I want to make sure I installed the correct one. I sadly didn't check before installing if my driver is DCH or standard.

But my old driver was called nv_dispi.inf_amd64_55e7fb10ab85a7c2
There is no "dch" in the name, so can I conclude that my old driver was a standard driver as well? I know Intel puts "dch" in their dch drivers, but I'm not sure if Nvidia does that as well.

Can maybe someone that uses DCH drivers tell me what their driver is called?

Just to clarify, I mean the .inf file, not the .exe installer file.

Thank you.

Hello. I had some issues with my driver so I wanted to reinstall my old one. There's a dropdown menu on the nvidia site to choose if you want to download standard or dch, and I chose standard. Just double checking. And to make sure I really installed exactly my old one, I want to check the file name.
I get the driver name when I go to device manager, my graphics card and see which versions were installed.

So if anyone could tell me if there is "dch" in a dch nvidia driver file name it would be great. I'm just being very cautious.

What is the brand and model name or number of the video card.

It is a GTX 1080.

And I know I downloaded the driver for that card, I merely want to know if I downloaded the exact same driver I had prior to my issues, and for that I need to know if it was DCH or Standard. 🙂

Sadly I didn't check the system information before installing it, so all I have is the name of the .inf file of my previous driver.

But what brand of GPU is it, ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte and MSI to name just four all make GTX 1080 video cards and each will have their own initial versions of drivers.

Are you having any actual issues since installing the driver that you did.

On the box it says Republic of Gamers GeForce GTX 1080. I'm using Nvidia drivers that I always installed via the GeForce Experience software. However, the latest driver caused issues. So I manually downloaded my previous driver from the Nvidia site.
I didn't know what DCH is until that point to be honest, else I would have checked before installing what was installed before. And the issues weren't constant, so it's hard to say if they are still there. I just wanna be done with it you know?
But that only works if I find out what driver was installed before. So if my issues return, and I know I have the exact same driver as before, I know it wasn't the driver causing it.
All I have to verify this is the driver installation info that shows at device manager in the graphics card tab.

So if someone that knowingly uses a DCH driver for Nvidia could tell me what their latest driver installation is called, it would help me a lot.

Yes all drivers have different names, however, my old one was "nv_dispi.inf_amd64_55e7fb10ab85a7c2", the "nv" pretty surely stands for nvidia. It does not say "DCH" in the name. So I need to compare it to someone that actually uses a nvidia dch driver to see if there's a difference in the file name. 🙂
I found this on the Intel site, so I was wondering if nvidia writes "dch" in their driver names as well. That is the only help I really need.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as I have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Any drivers for your GPU should be downloaded from here you will note that the three latest are each DCH, this is because ASUS are no longer writing specific drivers for the card so you have to use generic ones provided by Nvidea.

We can check your present drivers if you do the following for us, once you have the info you can make a note of it and if things stay stable you know which drivers to go to should you need to reinstall them.

Download and run DriverView which you can get from here

Save the results to text and attach to your next reply for us if you will.

Those drivers at your Intel link are for the Intel on die video, igd = integrated graphics device

The Geforce Experience software from nvidia came with the card. So that was what I always used. It was on a CD that came in the box.

Thank you I will keep it in mind and consider it, but right now I don't want to download from Asus because I have always been using these.

Again, all I need is someone that uses the same driver as mine but in dch. If anyone can do that it would be awesome if they let me know, thanks! 🙂

Question, how is anybody going to know if they are using the same driver as you when they do not know what drivers you are using, post the DriverView log and people will be able to see what version of drivers you actually have.

If anyone that knows they use a DCH Nvidia driver, could go to their device manager, graphics card tab and tell me the name of their latest installed driver, it would give me all I need. Then I can compare it to mine. I know what I use, I want to compare it to what I used before. But I can't check what I used before, so someone else needs to check theirs so I can simply compare it.

Thank you. 🙂
