Someone I help with her computer has many MP4 files on a Western Digital Elements USB Disk. A few months ago, one folder with many of the MP4 files disappeared. She is not very computer savvy and so I thought that she must have somehow accidentally deleted the folder. I restored her files from a backup. Tonight, the same thing happened. The same folder with many MP4 files suddenly disappeared. She said she saw the folder, tried to select it and then it was gone. I was there (though not when it disappeared) and was able to quickly get onto her machine and check the Recycle Bin, which was empty (the same as the first time).

This has me wondering whether there is a bug with WD Elements that it will suddenly, under a particular circumstance, delete a folder from its directory. One time an accidental user deletion is plausible but twice with the same WD drive and folder leads me to at least consider if there is something else going on here. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

The machine is running Win 7.
