Water damage

Hello. I accidentally a tiny bit of water into the top of my pc and i instantly knew i messed up. I heard a zap and then it crashed.
Ive done everything to possibly try to boot my pc and it simply wont work.
I would like to repair it but due to lack of money i need to isolate the problem and i am unable to test with other parts.

The issue is, the pc wont boot to my monitor at all. the fans spin out of control and my motherboard shows a constant VGA light.
Even with disconnecting my graphics card, onboard graphics still doesnt work even after resetting cmos.
I have reason to believe that the issue is the motherboard but is it possible that the psu can no longer output enough power or something?
I will be in the comments until relatively solved

it only runs out of control when the gpu is plugged in but i did a cmos reset so its really weird. im almost certain the motherboard is dead. although i have 24hrs until ill order parts

Please, no need to quote previous posts

To test with onboard graphics you will have to REMOVE the dedicated graphics card first, not just disconnect it as you say.

To stand the best chance why not remove the motherboard and clean it with some isopropyl and a toothbrush, dry it properly and retest without your graphics card.

sorry i meant that i had removed it. i will get my hands on some isopropyl and clean my motherboard before purchasing any possible parts. although i feel like the zap sound may have been a part dying

Yes water may very well have killed it, but cleaning and drying is the best chance you've got. Guess it all depends on how much water and what parts inside the PC took a bath. If you heard a zap I would suggest that it may have come from something with a higher voltage potential than whats present in a motherboard, like the power supply?

im taking it into a internet cafe and they should be able to isolate the problem to specific parts. ill edit the original post when a conclusion is made

Hi Reeppa, Welcome to PCHF! :)

More than likely it could be the power supply or even the CPU that could have shorted out from the water damage but I would look at swapping out the power supply next and also try installing just one stick of RAM into the new motherboard and see if you can get the computer to boot up properly.

ill test each ram stick individually now. and yes my next option would be to check the power supply even though peripherals and such light up, it could still be an issue. the cpu looked perfectly fine visually but thatd be the third option to take care of. i may get my local internet cafe to take a look at it in a week or so due to the fact that i replaced the hardest part to check
