VR Computer - Whats Needed on Upgrade?

Hi All,

I've searched quite a lot (recommended/minimum specs etc) but wanted some solid advice on something.
I recently built a budget gaming PC (runs most games solid) but i want to try out the Quest 2 VR Headset for VR Games + Iracing.

My setup is:
Ryzen 3 3100 @ 4.1Ghz
Nvidia 1650 Super 4GB
16GB 3200mhz Ram
B450M Motherboard
SSD + Standard Hard Drive

If i needed to upgrade any component on my PC to run VR (if it lagged/couldn't cope with some higher games) would it be the CPU that needed upgrading?
If so, will any Ryzen chipset run in the motherboard? I was potentially thinking the Ryzen 5 3600?

Thank for for this @veeg . It's quite interesting, 50% of the "Games" are suggesting it's bottlenecked by the CPU, the other 50% are bottled by the GPU so it's an annoying mix.
I guess the other way to look at it would be to get the headset and keep an eye on the CPU and GPU loads to see if any/which are hitting 100%, and try the upgrade from that path.

On another note if you can help: I have a mic and headphone plugged into the back of the PC via the IO (its a headset with a Mic/Headphone splitter). Everytime i boot the PC up, it doesn't recognise the Mic. So i have to unplug, and plug it back in - then chose MIC on the windows option. Unsure how to simply get this to be Mic automatically...

just for some background info....

mic and headphone ports are typically 3 pole ports. but recently, they have started making 4 pole ones where the same port can run a combined mic/headphone headset.
and has it sounds you are doing, such headsets need a splitter to convert the 4 pole jack from the headset into two separate jacks for the mic and phones ports on the PC.

if the rig is fairly new, some cases now come with the 4 pole 'headset' port on the front, see if yours does.

the software that runs the audio ports (Realtek?) should pop up a window when the mic/phones are plugged in, is there no option in that to "remember and don't ask me"?

otherwise, what I've done, and now do by default, is only get USB headsets - never had a problem with all that port/splitter/front vs back jacks etc.

Thank you, it is 3 port and the audio on the IO is much better than "HD Audio" input on the front.

Everytime i plug the Mic in, i get a windows/realtek popup which is default as "Subwooer" which i have to change to Mic In. No option to save/keep as default :(
