I pay for 350mbs broadband and when it works it's great but frequently I get a massive variation in signal strength in the more distant areas of my house and I'm talking 10 m max. At one time it will show 192mbps but then hover around 1- 1.5. I could understand it if it just didn't work but not such variation. Any ideas?

You will want to get a wifi extender, you put it where you get about three bars of wifi to repeat to the distant areas of your house.
