Hey guys I was trying to upgrade ram for my Asus Tuf FX505DT Laptop. I bought a (Samsung 8GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM Memory Module for Laptops (260 Pin SODIMM, 1.2V) M471A1K43CB1) off amazon.

I installed it and it still shows only 8gb. It is not picking it up. I was recommended this samsung ram piece from a friend who has the same laptop.

Is the 266mhz the problem? I noticed there is another option when buying the ram for 2400 mhz. I am very confused on what to do. Should I return it and buy another part? If so which one?

-I checked the bios after putting in the ram. Only picks up the 8gb not the second one. I cannot find the dual-channel ram option in bios.

-The new 8gb ram stick actually works though, I put in by it self and it worked. Not sure what else to do though

For the heck of it I tried both Ram Sticks in the the second empty slot individually. Neither of them worked in the second slot(by not work, i mean my screen turned black and did nothing when I powered up). The first slot, that already had a 8gb ram stick in it when I bought, only seems to be working?
